“She’s gentle and sensitive, yet never let me get away with anything. A teacher in the truest sense of the word.”

After a lifetime of shrinking away from leading any kind of group presentation, I found myself in a job where I was required to take center stage as an expert in my field. Suddenly, I had no choice but to present a public side of my usually private self—something that has always stricken me with panic and self-doubt. Overcoming my deep fear of public speaking was something I knew I couldn’t manage on my own, so I reached out to a good friend and asked if she knew anyone who could help me, perhaps a good voice coach. Without hesitation she replied, “I know a great voice coach!”

But Ruth is so much more than that. She led me in a patient, nonjudgmental way to realize I didn’t need to be invisible anymore, that standing out simply requires basic tools I already possessed—she would just help me access them. Ruth is an incredible listener, able to intuit the path and unlock the door to my better self. She’s gentle and sensitive, yet never let me get away with anything. A teacher in the truest sense of the word.
